With all the automation abound these days, such as being able to deposit checks directly into your bank account via your smart phone, your security company should be part of the game also.

Pictured above is a smart phone, the central point of much of our automation.

The good news is, most are.  From the ability to pull up a virtual keypad on your phone’s screen and command your security panel from miles away to receiving an email alert on your smart phone or computer with a video clip when your children arrive safely home from school, we’ve arrived.

But to take it a step further, and to mirror what the banking industry has done, many security companies want to make it as convenient as possible for you to access your account.

Why should you have to wait to communicate directly with your local security company personnel or with those of the central station monitoring company?

If your security company provides automated access, you’ll be able to: manage your contact lists, manage your call lists, change passwords and manipulate the opening and closing schedules (if applicable), among others.

Just like when you call or submit an email now to your local company (if you’re currently not using automatic account access), you may still need to make changes by a certain time of day for them to effect.

Moral of the story?  This is a win-win for everyone (sorry for the cliché).  If your security company hasn’t instituted the system yet, continue to ask them to do so—it will benefit everyone.  If they have, then customers will have easier access and more control and security administrators will be freed up to handle other issues to make sure your customer experience is the best it can be.

Thanks for spending some time with us.
