We're continuing on with the fourth mistake in our series of "10 security mistakes that businesses make and how to prevent them".  (There's a free download on our website if you'd like access to them all at once!)  Number three, the last post from this list, discussed the tendency for some to not use security since they believe they have nothing of value to be stolen.

Depicted above are several security systems which can be integrated.

In this post, we're going to discuss the mistake of not leveraging the technology that permits you to integrate your various security systems.

If you're going to have a CCTV system installed, or added onto, make sure to have it "talk" to your access control system, for instance.

That pan, tilt and zoom security camera that you have positioned at the main entrance can actually adjust itself (automatically) to capture the faces of people as they enter.  You don't have to count on a guard or other personnel to operate the camera.  Once someone swipes an access card, if your access control system and video surveillance systems are integrated, the camera will pan on its own to record the entering person.

This can be facilitated by using a serial interface which connects the CCTV system to the access control system--please contact your security company in NH, MA or other areas for more details.

And as for having your CCTV system "talk" to your smart phone or computer so you can take advantage of remote video monitoring, please see our last blog post titled "Business Remote Video Monitoring in NH, MA and Beyond".
